Raleigh Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tour

Raleigh, North Carolina. Between political unrest during antebellum years and heated debate about whether North Carolina should secede from the union, the people of Raleigh had some things to settle, whether it happened during or after their lives. The City of Oaks, claims to be the second planned US State Capital city in the USA, circa 1792.

The Oak City has experienced accidents, fires, tragedies, and unresolved disagreements that have played a role in the paranormal world. Raleigh is no exception to these types of incidents over the years.  When someone has some incomplete business matters to take care of or passed on with something missing, the only other option may be to come back in a spiritual sense.

Guest Review: “This was an excellent event that both my kids and I enjoyed! We loved the historical information and facts that lent credibility to the ghost stories we heard. My kids are still talking about it all and reviewing their favorite stories. The Raleigh Cemetery was the favorite venue by far, but we also enjoyed the stories related to the Capitol building. Our guide was very personable, patient with the kids, engaged the entire group, and was a wonderful story-teller. Loved it!!”

Many people think our ghost tours are just something to experience during the Halloween season like visiting a haunted house. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Raleigh Ghost Walk combines local ghost stories, folklore, and local history as it takes you to four different Ghost & Paranormal sites. Stories from the late 1700s through the 20th century will be explored with an entertaining twist. It’s entertaining and educational at the same time.

The Yarborough House was the place to be and be seen until the early 1900s. In 1928, it burned to the ground. But, as we know, a spirit or ghost will linger in an area even after the house or building is gone. You will see first-hand where this landmark stood and hear the strange occurrences that have occurred in this famous hotel. You will get a chance to take your own photos to see if you capture any special paranormal activities.

Testimonial: “Our tour guide was an expert storyteller, drawing our interest easily as she described unique paranormal occurrences at the several Raleigh locations. I hope to revisit some of the buildings in the daylight, and will consider some of the other Tobacco Road Tour options.”

While walking to the next stops, guides point out significant architecture, historical facts, and interesting tidbits. The White-Holman house is where the Peg-legged ghost has been heard walking up and down the back staircase. This house is a popular stop on this tour and you’ll learn who the ghost is thought to be and maybe even hear the step…clack, step…clack, step…. of the ghost walking on his peg-leg.

Destinations:

White – Holman House:

One of the Triangle’s more popular paranormal spots, the White-Holman house is home to a peg-legged ghost who has never left the premises. Is this tortured soul a servant, a soldier, or something otherworldly? Was the home built in 1797, 1798, or maybe 1799? There is confusion on when the home was actually built, adding intrigue to the souls who have perished there.  Who lived here? Who died here? We’ll cover all of this and some theories about the Peg-Legged ghost on the Haunted Footsteps Ghost tour.

The Governor’s Mansion:

Is Governor Daniel Fowel still residing is this 35,000 sq. ft. Queen Anne-styled home? Are there dark secrets beyond the opulent exterior of this grand mansion? What role did prisoners from Central Prison play? Do former governors come back to pay a visit to the current residents? What are the strange noises that happen at night? Learn the answer to these questions and more on TRT’s Haunted Footsteps tour.

The State Capital Building:

The second capital building after the first one (1795) burns down. The current building taking 7 years to complete and opened in 1840 is a classic Greek Revival structure.

A paranormal hot spot, the State Capitol is home to myriad ghosts. Fire, heated riots, and the Civil War have left this building teeming with restless souls. Discover these hallowed grounds as we explore the history of the building, and find out the secrets beyond the locally sourced granite exterior.
